An Introduction to CAS

CAS was founded to provide physicians with rapid, quantitative assessments of their patient’s cognitive function. A primary application of CAS is to detect deviations from healthy brain aging that may lead to the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Our approach is best called cognitive psychophysics: engaging patients in continuous stimulus-response paradigms that demand an intervening cognitive process. This approach enables the measurement of focal cortical function to be compared to individual and group performance standards to assist clinicians in the detection and monitoring of cognitive impairment.

CAS’s Multi-dimensional Analysis

CAS is rooted in twenty years of psychophysical research focusing on the early detection of late-life dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Studies addressing impairments in various cortical functional domains led to the development of a battery of tests for the analysis of the functional integrity of localized and integrative cortical function.
